James had the unfortunate luck to have to sit next to me for an entire flight from San Francisco to London in 1986. He, and everyone else in the band could not have been nicer to everyone they dealt with. While waiting in the immigration/customs line Cliff asked what I was doing later in London and I said, probably just heading to SoHo. Kirk chimed in with, "It's a small town, I'm sure we'll bump into you." About 10 hours later I was walking though SoHo, and from a black London taxi I hear, "Stop!" It does, and Cliff and Kirk hop out and say, "Told you we'd see you later." Cliff passed away a couple of weeks later.

The fact that James and Lars had fights and still stayed together makes me respect and admire them even more. That's how it is in a family, you stay together no matter what.

In 2018 it was revealed that James was a few minutes late feeding one of his dogs. In an interview with Loudwire, James' dog "Snooky" said she couldn't believe the Metallica frontman would disrespect her like that. She has not spoken to James since the incident, but dogs do not speak so it is impossible to know if this lone incident is responsible for Snooky's grudge against Mr. Hetfield.

Who the fuck could hate on this guy? His saintlike humility is eclipsed only by his talent and incredible music. Anyone who has a problem with James Hetfield really just has a problem with themselves.

Are we not gonna talk about the time James caught on fire and had to go to the hospital and Axl Rose refused to take the stage because he didn’t want to be upstaged? Also, who cares what Axl Rose thinks, he’s the possibly the biggest jerk in Rock music History. The Bon Jovi one sounds more like why James doesn’t like Bon Jovi then the other way around

Bro I’ve met James before he is just a genuinely nice person. He didn’t act like he was superior, didn’t say anything rude, nothing. He just had a nice normal conversation with me and gave me a high five. Super cool guy
