Is Kamala Harris Turning Her Back On The Arab American Vote?

Michigan is a crucial swing state in the 2024 presidential election and Arab Americans could be the deciding vote. There are more than 200,000 Arab and Muslim voters in Michigan and voters we spoke to were unenthusiastic and unsupportive of Kamala Harris and the Democrats, who they say are continuing to fund Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Arab Americans say they know full well what a Donald Trump presidency would look like. Adam Abusalah volunteered on the Biden campaign in 2020 because of Trump’s “Muslim Ban,” but now he feels betrayed by the Democrats too. Adam says he’s voting for Jill Stein and the Green Party this time around, which some say could favor a Trump victory.

Lexis Zeidan, from the Uncommitted Movement, says the group is not endorsing any candidate for the presidential election. She says U.S. foreign policy is likely to be similar under either a Harris or Trump administration, so she’s now focused on what to do the day after the election -and the efforts people are making outside the ballot box.
