Ice skating on frozen canals in Amsterdam - Winter Travel in Holland

Amsterdam is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe with its beautiful canals, historic architecture, and relaxed vibe. On this day (in the Winter of 2012), the canals in the city were frozen completely, and crowds of locals (and tourists) came out to skate and have fun on the ice.

A pretty unique sight in Holland these days, and definitely (many would argue unfortunately!) something you don't see every year.
