Calming Cloud Noise for Rapid Deep Sleep | 12 Hours | BLACK SCREEN | Tinnitus & Anxiety Relief

I have always associated clouds with sleep—so much so that my original Sound Asleep logo featured a cloud. Maybe it's because they're often described using terms like "fluffy" and "soft," qualities associated with comfort, peace, serenity, and detachment from the hectic pace of daily life. Or perhaps it's their gentle natural rhythms—the cycle of clouds forming and dissipating—which can be comforting and remind us of the natural cycles of rest and activity, aligning with our own need for sleep.

Whatever the reason, it made sense to me to seek out and try to create the perfect Cloud Noise. So, with some intelligent help, I asked what noise clouds would make if they made a sound. This is what was said:

If clouds were a noise, they would likely sound soft, gentle, and serene, capturing their tranquil and flowing nature. Here are some characteristics that might define the sound of clouds:

Smooth and Continuous Whoosh: A smooth, continuous whoosh with no abrupt changes, evoking the steady movement of clouds across the sky.
Light Drizzle: Occasionally, there might be the soft patter of a light drizzle, representing the gentle release of rain from clouds.
Whispering Breezes: A soft, whispering sound similar to a gentle breeze moving through leaves or grass.
Muffled and Distant: Soft, muffled sounds that give a sense of distance, like the faint rustling of leaves or distant waves.
Ethereal Tones: Subtle, ethereal tones that create a calming and expansive atmosphere, much like the open sky.

To create these sounds, I turned to my familiar bank of recordings, including rain and wind field recordings, some fabric scratching, straw blowing, and my MIDI keyboard. Using my usual techniques of filtering and elongating, I crafted this full, layered, dreamy sound.

I hope Cloud Noise does to you what it does to me—puts you in a sleepy, soporific state!

Sleep well and sleep long!

MADE USING: MIDI keyboard, oak tree leaves, Kent rainfall, straw blowing and fabric scratching
