Recently, I have been having requests for a new healing sound, and what better yuletide symbol to inspire it than ivy? Known for its evergreen leaves and enduring vitality, ivy has long represented healing and rejuvenation. At the same time, it holds a deep connection to the festive winter season, adorning homes and traditions as a timeless emblem of resilience, renewal, and the promise of life even in the coldest months.
But how would I be able to turn that into a soothing sound for the mind and body? Well, I took to the online oracle to help point me in the right direction. Here is what was suggested:
Delta Wave Binaural Beats: Deep delta pulses (0.5-4 Hz) with 417 Hz and 528 Hz solfeggio tones, echoing ivy’s cleansing and healing properties by promoting repair and balance.
Grounding Brown Noise: A steady, earthy hum like the resonance of the soil reflects ivy’s strong, anchoring roots, providing stability and peace as it clings and thrives.
Whispering Green Noise: Soft, natural sounds of rustling leaves echo ivy’s nurturing presence, symbolizing its vitality and connection to nature’s restorative energy.
So, using my MIDI keyboard and some ambient pads, I crafted deep delta pulses complemented by solfeggio tones known for their healing properties (528 Hz promotes cellular repair and DNA healing, while 417 Hz aids emotional release and clears negative energy). I then recorded the sound of ivy leaves rustling (thankfully, our house has plenty growing up it) and applied my usual filters (HP and elongation). To finish, I layered in some grounding brown noise created with fabric scratching
Together, these all weave an incredibly deep, rich, and soothing healing soundscape—promoting cellular repair, emotional release, and balance—creating a comforting embrace perfect for drifting effortlessly into a long, restorative slumber!
