What’s Winter Cherry, you ask?
Well, Ashwagandha, also known as Winter Cherry, is a revered medicinal herb with a rich history in Ayurvedic medicine, dating back thousands of years. Supposedly known for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve sleep quality, Ashwagandha works by balancing cortisol levels and supporting overall mental well-being. This makes it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
But how does one turn all that into a sleep sound?
As Ashwagandha is also known as Winter Cherry, I decided to use that as my starting point. I created a deep, red-ish cherry sound, mixed with winter tones — the subtle sound of snowstorms and howling winds.
To create the red-ish cherry noise, I started with my previous Dark Cherry Noise and layered in some new sounds. One of the key elements was the elongated, filtered sound of Holland & Barrett Ashwagandha capsules being shaken.
Fortunately (if I can say that), the UK has been experiencing Storm Bert this week, so I was able to record some excellent (and rather chilly) sounds to use and layer in. Once everything was blended together, it produced a deep, hypnotic sound that’s definitely fitting for the upcoming winter season.
So, as the weather continues to change and the nights get darker, why not soothe your ears and brain with this Winter Cherry Noise.
Sleep long and well, my friends.
MADE USING: Ashwagandha capsules, Dark Cherry Noise, fabric scratching and storm sounds (recorded from Storm Bert, Kent, UK)
