Chinese students military parade

Each year, new Chinese college and university students take part in a military parade to introduce themselves to their new school and get acquainted with their fellow students. Although China is becoming increasingly open to the world, the Communist history of the country is still visible in many parts of daily life, this video providing an obvious example.

Nationalistic voices can be heard everywhere, usually between the lines, and particularly among China's younger generation, who are stuck in between different worlds. Having been brought up in a relatively traditional way, they see the world around them change rapidly.

This video was made in the coastal city of Qingdao.
