USAID On Hold: Global Impact Of Trump & Musk's US Government Budget Overhaul | CNA Correspondent

America is the world's largest funder of international aid, accounting for about 40 per cent of all humanitarian assistance. But the Trump administration's threat to decimate USAID and its move to sever ties with the World Health Organization are putting all that in jeopardy.

Aid groups say the funding freeze is cutting off critical lifelines, silencing democratic voices and disrupting climate efforts. Global health experts say the WHO withdrawal cuts Americans off from crucial access to data on disease outbreaks, advisories and prevention measures, putting Americans at home and abroad at risk. Geopolitical pundits say Washington's soft power would also be a casualty, as its disengagement opens the way for other world powers to step in and exert their influence.
